Nicholas commenced his PhD research with the School of Sociology in August 2022. His research critically analyses right-wing critiques of liberalism and/or capitalism as generating 'nihilistic' cultural crises, assessing how these may inform Critical Theory. This research involves close engagement with schools of thought ranging from 1970s neoconservatism to contemporary Catholic postliberalism.
